As president of the International Union of Architects, and personally, it is heartening to receive so many expressions of profound sorrow at the devastation of Notre Dame.

Catastrophe can give new life and new meaning to a place that came from the ages and will endure through the ages.

The UIA will follow closely the means by which all who wish can contribute to the Cathedral’s reconstruction, and we will keep you informed of what we learn.

Thomas Vonier, President

— Victor Hugo
